Bantering the Blueshirts Ep. 150: Trouba’s Deal

Trouba gets PAID

Last night’s storm threw a wrench into our plans and knocked Joe out of commission for the flagship show, so Blueshirt Banter’s own Tom Urtz Jr. stepped in to help an exhausted Mike break down the Jacob Trouba contract.

Trouba’s seven-year deal carries an AAV of $8 million, which, per Cap Friendly’s roster projection, puts the team over the cap ceiling by a little under $1 million. Mike and Tom discuss what the Rangers will have to do to get under that ceiling and what the most attractive options are. Needless to say, Jeff Gorton has some big decisions to make.

Towards the end of the show, we also briefly discuss the addition of yet another veteran for the Wolf Pack — Phil Di Giuseppe — and whether or not its surprising that Hartford is still without its head coach.
