2020 NHL All-Star Skills Competition Open Thread

All-Star Weekend has finally arrived for the 2019-20 campaign, and with it comes one of the most anticipated events of the hockey season. The league’s annual skills competition is set to take place at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, and the competition will see some of hockey’s biggest stars compete in a total of six events.

The Blueshirts’ representative this weekend, Chris Kreider, will be competing in the fastest skater competition. Although Kreider’s speed is is strongest attribute, he’ll be competing against the likes of Nathan MacKinnon, Anthony Duclair, and the defending champion from last year’s event, Connor McDavid.

The other events consist of classics such as of goaltender save streak, (which Henrik Lundqvist won last year in San Jose) accuracy shooting and hardest shot, as well as a session of three on three hockey between teams of American and Canadian women’s all-stars. The final contest will be the “Shooting Stars” event, a new event that will see two women compete alongside eight men in something of a trick shot competition.

While the main attraction will be the games played tomorrow night, there’s still plenty of fun to be had with the skills competition tonight. We’ll see if Chris Kreider has what it takes to skate with the NHL’s best.

Enjoy the competition!
