Game #43: New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Open Thread

After defending home ice during Igor Shesterkin’s NHL debut on Tuesday, the Rangers will look to do it again tonight. The New Jersey Devils are in town, and they’ll be looking to avenge the 4-3 overtime defeat they suffered at the hands of the New York Islanders two nights ago

The Rangers and Devils have already split the first two games of the season series, with each team earning two points via a regulation win at the Prudential Center earlier this season. Now, these cross-river rivals will play the first of two games at Madison Square Garden this year to determine a victor in the season series. David Quinn’s squad put forth one of their better efforts of the season against Colorado on Tuesday, so look for them to prove that it was a sign of things to come for the second half of the 2019-20 campaign.

Player to Watch: Artemiy Panarin

The last seven games have been an interesting set of contests for The Breadman. A stat line of 3-10-13 is brilliant enough on its own, but a look at his game logs reveals something peculiar. Panarin has recorded 3+ points in four of his previous seven, while failing to find the scoresheet in the other three games. Panarin was held scoreless in both of the prior contests against New Jersey, so look for him to break that trend tonight.

Enjoy the game!
