Game #56: New York Rangers vs Minnesota Wild Open Thread

Coming off the heels of a strong effort in Winnipeg, the Blueshirts are back in action tonight today in the State of Hockey. David Quinn’s squad is set to head into the Xcel Energy Center to square off with Eric Staal, Mats Zuccarello, and the rest of the Minnesota Wild. After defeating the Wild in New York back on November 25th, the Rangers will look to secure a sweep in the season series with a victory tonight.

The last four times the Blueshirts have won back-to-back games, they’ve failed to win a third consecutive contest. The only consistency on Broadway this season has been inconsistency, so winning tonight’s game would go a long way towards building momentum towards a late-season playoff push.

Player to Watch: Brady Skjei

For all of the inconsistency the Blueshirts have displayed this season, no player has epitimized the team more than Brady Skjei. The Minnesota native and former Golden Gopher has yet to regain the form he displayed during his rookie season on a daily basis. Skjei has been one game on, one game off for the better part of two and a half seasons, but the 2019-20 campaign in particular has seen him contribute to his team’s defensive struggles. If there was ever a time for Skjei to perform well, tonight’s game back in his home state would be a good one.

Enjoy the game!
