Game #57: New York Rangers vs Columbus Blue Jackets Open Thread

Following a successful trip the the Xcel Energy Center, the Rangers are back in action less than 24 hours later. An overnight flight has brought David Quinn’s squad to the Ohio State, and they’ll head into Nationwide Arena tonight to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in a Metropolitan Division clash.

Last night’s victory represented the Rangers’ first three game winning streak since the end of November. Now, they’ll look to build on their momentum and avenge their heartbreaking home defeat back on January 19. In a contest that appeared destined for overtime, the Blue Jackets stuck in dagger in the Blueshirts’ hearts by scoring the game winning goal with 26.5 seconds to go in regulation to send the Garden faithful home disappointed. Now, the Rangers will look to return the favor on the road in Columbus.

Player to Watch: Pavel Buchnevich

Through the first two games of his team’s road trip, Buchnevich has found the score sheet in both Winnipeg and Minnesota. A two assist night in Manitoba was followed up by finding the back of the net in the State of Hockey last night. Now, Buchnevich will look to secure his first three game scoring streak since the beginning of November. With the added motivation of being #12 on TSN’s trade board, look for Buchnevich to make an impact on tonight’s contest.

Enjoy the game!
