Game #59: New York Rangers vs Chicago Blackhawks Open Thread

After falling to the Boston Bruins and watching their four game winning streak come to an end last game, the Rangers will look to rebound in another Original Six matchup tonight. David Quinn’s squad is set to head into the United Center to take on Patrick Kane, Alex Debrincat, and the rest of the Chicago Blackhawks. Igor Shesterkin has earned the nod for yet another road game, and Tony DeAngelo is back in the lineup as well, although neither of them serve as the most interesting player in New York’s lineup tonight.

Player to Watch: Julien Gauthier

Acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Joey Keane Tuesday afternoon, Gauthier will be making his Blueshirts’ debut tonight. Donning the legendary #12 worn by the likes of Peter Holland, Matt Puempel, and Daniel Paille just to name a few, Gauthier will look to make an immediate impact for his new team. As the AHL’s fourth leading goal scorer prior to his trade from the Hurricanes’ organization, Gauthier will attempt to become the latest example of a player New York took a flyer on, force fed ice time, and allowed to bloom. Keep an eye on him against Chicago tonight.

Enjoy the game!
