Buchnevich, who was a passenger in the car, was described as being shaken up, and is day-to-day. Shesterkin, who was driving the car, has a small upper body non-displaced rib fracture, and will be reevaluated in two weeks.
Rangers President John Davidson announces goalie Igor Shesterkin sustained a broken rib in an automobile accident on Sunday and will be reevaluated in two weeks. Forward Pavel Buchnevich was a passenger and is day-to-day.— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) February 24, 2020
At this point there is no knowing how long Shesterkin will be out, and even if the team gets good news in two weeks, there’s no telling if he’ll go back in goal. For now we will play the waiting game, and can be very thankful that both avoided serious injuries.
