Lemieux to Have Hearing for Late Hit on Donskoi

Lemieux’s dirty hit on Donskoi could cost him

The NHL Department of Player Safety announced today that New York Rangers forward Brendan Lemieux will have a hearing for his late, high hit on Colorado Avalanche forward Joonas Donskoi.

Lemieux earned a two minute minor penalty for interference on the play in question, which occurred at the 17:08 mark of the third period in last night’s 3-2 overtime loss in Denver.

Earlier this season, on Dec. 8, 2019, Lemieux received a fine ($2,486.56) for elbowing Cody Glass of the Vegas Golden Knights. He currently leads the Rangers with 111 PIM in 59 games, which is the highest total earned by a Ranger since Derek Dorsett clocked in at 134 PIM in the 2013-14 season.
