Game #66: St. Louis Blues vs New York Rangers Open Thread

After dropping the first game of their homestand on Sunday afternoon, the Rangers are back in action tonight. They’ll look to get back on the right track and defend home ice against Ryan O’Reilly, Jordan Binnington, and the reigning Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues. David Quinn’s squad will be looking to avoid getting swept in the season series, having lost the team’s prior meeting in St. Louis by a 5-2 margin back on January 11th.

Since losing Chris Kreider to a fractured foot early in the road contest in Philadelphia, the Blueshirts have gotten shelled in the shot and scoring chance battle in each of their last two games. Alexandar Georgiev and Henrik Lundqvist each got hung out to dry and gave up five goals against the Flyers. Georgiev will be back in net tonight.

Player to Watch: Mika Zibanejad

In spite of a two goal, three point effort two days ago, Zibanejad’s Rangers fell short of the critical two points they needed against Philadelphia. Zibanejad and Panarin have been a lethal combination since being united on New York’s top line, and they’ll need to continue their stellar play if David Quinn’s squad wants to successfully defend home ice against St. Louis.

Enjoy the game!
