BSB Quarantine Survival Guide

New, comments
NHL: Winter Classic-Practice Danny Wild-USA TODAY Sports

With New York’s numbers continuing to rapidly climb towards the apex, the PAUSE on New York has been extended until April 15th. We here at Blueshirt Banter hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during this unsure time.

The safest choice we can make for ourselves and others, if you can, is to stay home. While we wait for the return of not just hockey but all sports, the BSB staff decided to put together a roundtable of movie and book suggestions to keep you busy while quarantining. We have three categories, hockey, all sports, and any, with two sub-categories in each consisting of books and movies.

Hockey Books

Mike: Boy on Ice: The Life and Death of Derek Boogaard by John Branch

Kevin: Breakaway by Tal Pinchevsky or The Russian Five by Keith Gave

Adam: Boy on Ice: The Life and Death of Derek Boogaard by John Branch

Jack: Ice Capades: A Memoir of Fast Living and Tough Hockey by Sean Avery

Shayna: Game Change by Ken Dryden

Brianna: 99: Stories of the Game by Wayne Gretzky

Tom: The Game by Ken Dryden or Ice Capades: A Memoir of Fast Living and Tough Hockey by Sean Avery (both available as audio books read by the author)

Adam: Das Reboot: How German Football Reinvented Itself and Conquered the World by Raphael Honigstein

Jack: The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance by Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr.

Shayna: I would have said Astroball: The New Way to Win It All, BUT it turns out their new way of winning was sign stealing so.... ‘America Game’ by Michael MacCambridge is another that gave a great in-depth look to the NFL’s history.

Brianna: The Closer: My Story by Mariano Rivera

Tom: I’m Keith Hernandez by Keith Hernandez

Any Sports Movie

Mike: Warrior

Kevin: A League of Their Own

Adam: The Sandlot

Tom: Cinderella Man

We also want to thank all of the doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and all those working in the medical and healthcare fields for their continued fight against this virus. Additionally, we want to extend safe wishes to the essential workers such as those working in grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants open for takeout or delivery, and all the other who do not get to work from home.

If you have any suggestions of your own, maybe video games, please put them in the comments!
