New York Rangers’ Pick From Carolina Will Be 22nd Overall

The New York Rangers finally have some clarity on their other first-round draft selection, which was acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Brady Skjei. With the Hurricanes losing to the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs, the Rangers needed some help from the lower seeded teams remaining in the playoffs.

After several weeks of question marks, the only two lower seeded teams to prevail in the second round were the New York Islanders and Dallas Stars. As a result, the Rangers bump up two spots in the draft order, and will be selecting 22nd overall in the 2020 NHL Draft. The draft is currently scheduled for Oct. 9-10, and will be conducted virtually rather than in Montreal.

With the Conference finalists officially set in stone, the updated draft order is as follows:
