Game #6: New York Rangers vs Buffalo Sabres Open Thread

After a pair of losses in Pittsburgh where they deserved a better fate, the Rangers will head up to Buffalo to take on Eric Staal, Taylor Hall, and the rest of the new look Sabres. After watching their poverty franchise of a football team forget to show up for thier most important game in two and a half decades, Buffalo residents are hoping their hockey team will do what the Bills couldn’t manage two days ago: winning a game.

As for the Blueshirts, a pair of third period leads in Pittsburgh turned into a shootout loss and a regulation loss over their two games, and when you combine those with their previous loss to New Jersey, you’ve got a team that’s managed to start a three game losing streak only five games into the season. David Quinn’s squad could use a couple of wins in Buffalo before their season really goes off the rails.

Player to Watch: Kaapo Kakko

After struggling through a rough rookie campaign for the ages, Kakko has appeared better through the Rangers’ first five games of the season. While the spot light has been shining on Alexis Lafrenière, Kakko has flown under the radar thus far. Look for a strong effort out of him tonight.

Enjoy the game!
