With Artemiy Panarin and Kaapo Kakko unavailable and Filip Chytil not yet ready to return, the Rangers have recalled Jonny Brodzinski from the taxi squad.

Brodzinski made his Ranger debut on February 1 vs. the Penguins wearing No. 76 — formerly worn by Brady Skjei who was traded on this day one year ago— and skated 7:33 while taking a penalty and registering one shot on goal.

The 27-year-old forward has appeared in four games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, and has posted a line of 2-4-6. Last season he was primarily a member of the San Jose Barracuda, and he finished the season with 14 goals, 16 assists, and 30 points in 44 games played.

In his career to date, Brodzinski has posted fairly decent results outside the NHL. At St. Cloud University he averaged 0.93 points per game over 120 NCAA games spread across three seasons (64-48-112), and over the last six seasons he has tallied 72 goals and assists for 144 points in 204 AHL games (0.71 points per game).

With the Rangers he will be asked to hold down a bottom-six role and with some extended playing time dependent on how long Kakko, Panarin and company remain out, it would be great if Brodzinski could have a Blackwell-lite impact.

With Brodzinski recalled, here are the expected forward lines for tonight’s contest vs. Philadelphia:

Alexis Lafrenière — Mika Zibanejad — Pavel Buchnevich

Chris Kreider — Ryan Strome — Colin Blackwell

Brendan Lemieux — Brett Howden — Julien Gauthier

Phil Di Giuseppe — Kevin Rooney — Jonny Brodzinski
