Acting Head Coach Kris Knoblauch announced this morning that Igor Shesterkin is back and will start for the New York Rangers tomorrow against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Confirmed: Igor Shesterkin will start tomorrow. Vitali Kravtsov won't play. #NYR— Vince Z. Mercogliano (@vzmercogliano) March 24, 2021
Shesterkin injured himself in the 3rd period of a 6-1 win against the New Jersey Devils on March 4th, the Rangers kept the Russian netminder’s status as day to day for almost two weeks as backup goalies Alexandar Georgiev and Keith Kinkaid held the crease until Shesterkin was ready to go. During the ten games Shesterkin missed, the Rangers went 5-4-1 with Georgiev and Kinkaid splitting the net.
The Rangers also saw Vitali Kravtsov practice with the team this morning but his highly anticipated debut will have to wait just a little bit longer according to Knoblauch.
Adds that he doesn't think Kravtsov will be in the lineup "in the immediate future."— Mollie Walker (@MollieeWalkerr) March 24, 2021
