Game #23: New York Rangers vs Pittsburgh Penguins Open Thread

After sweeping the New Jersey Devils in a two game weekend series, the Rangers have a quick turnaround tonight. They’ve flown to Pittsburgh to take on Sidney Crosby, Kristopher Letang, and the rest of the Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.

The pair of wins over the weekend has elevated the Rangers’ record to 10-9-3. The team currently sits 6th in the East Division, and a regulation win tonight would go a long way towards moving in front of the 5th place Penguins and getting better position to jump into a playoff spot.

Player to Watch: Brett Howden

Howden has been one of New York’s more interesting players thus far. The rugged center is currently mired in a major slump, notching only a single assist and no goals over the last sixteen games. Things don’t get much better when you look at the whole season, as Howden has posted a 0-2-2 star line in spite of drawing into the lineup for every game thus far.

Against all odds, look for Howden to find his way onto the scoresheet tonight.

Enjoy the game!
