Game #24: New York Rangers vs Pittsburgh Penguins Open Thread

After getting their doors blown off them two nights ago, the Rangers are set for a rematch with the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paint Arena. An early goal from Mika Zibanejad gave the Blueshirts optimism that they’d be in for a good night against their divisional rivals, but a ghastly span of 61 seconds saw Alexandar Georgiev turn that 1-0 lead into a 3-1 deficit by the time the first period was over.

Keith Kinkaid made his Broadway debut in relief, but he surrendered a pair of goals and the team in front of him was unable to muster up any offense, leading to a 5-1 final score. David Quinn will need to rally is troops and put together a complete 60:00 effort in order to avoid a two game sweep at the hands of Pittsburgh.

Player to Watch: Jacob Trouba

Lost in the shuffle of Sunday night’s disaster was Jacob Trouba’s return to the lineup after an extended absence. The alternate captain said he felt good in his first game back, so that stood as one positive the team took away from their game. Look for another strong performance by Trouba as he rounds back into form in his second game back with the team.
