New York Rangers Granted Permission to Interview Gerard Gallant

The Rangers’ interview process begins in earnest

The New York Rangers kickstarted their search for a new head coach a couple of days after firing now former head coach David Quinn and most of his assistants . While there are a whole slew of candidates for the vacant position, one name that seems to have crept up to the top is former Vegas Golden Knights bench boss Gerard Gallant. If you missed it this morning, Tom had a great breakdown this morning of why Gallant should be the man at the helm of the New York Rangers as the team gets set to contend starting next season. Before Chris Drury can hire Gallant, he has to interview him for the position, and TSN’s Darren Dreger reported today that the Vegas Golden Knights have granted the Rangers permission to speak with their former coach.

As Dreger reports, Gallant is the bench boss for Team Canada at the Men’s World Championships being held in Riga, Latvia this year and the Rangers want to have at least one conversation with him before he has to assume his duties for the Canadian national team.
