Rangers Officially Announce Hiring of Mike Grier As Hockey Operations Advisor

The Rangers have officially announced the news that Mike Grier is joining the organization as a Hockey Operations Advisor.

According to the team’s statement:

In his role, Grier will work with the hockey operations department in both hockey-related decisions and off-ice player and prospect development. In addition, he will assist prospects in the Rangers organization, including players with the Rangers’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, with on-ice development.

Grier fills the position vacated by Brian Leetch who resigned from his position last week.

As we shared previously, Grier is a former teammate of Drury’s both in college and with the Sabres, and overall he appeared in 1,060 games in 14 seasons. He spent six seasons in Edmonton, four with the Buffalo Sabres, three with the San Jose Sharks, and two with the Washington Capitals.

Grier also most recently served as an Assistant Coach with the New Jersey Devils for two seasons (2018-19 and 2019-20), and spent four seasons as Professional Scout with the Chicago Blackhawks (2014-15 - 2017-18).
