Report: New York Rangers Qualify Six Restricted Free Agents

Nothing too surprising in who the Rangers qualified this morning.

According to the New York Post’s Larry Brooks, the New York Rangers are set to qualify six of their Restricted Free Agents; goalies Igor Shesterkin and Adam Huska, forwards Filip Chytil, Ty Ronning, and Tim Gettinger, and defenseman Libor Hajek.

While the Rangers qualified six of their RFAs, they did not extend qualifying offers to four skaters; Yegor Rykov, Brandon Crawley, Gabriel Fontaine, and Patrick Newell. The deadline for teams to qualify players is today at noon and those that are not qualified will become unrestricted free agents Wednesday at noon. Qualifying a Restricted Free Agent allows a team the right of first refusal should that player sign an offer sheet from another team and provides the team with the necessary draft pick compensation.
