2024 Playoffs: Second Round, New York Rangers vs Carolina Hurricanes Game 6 Open Thread

After the Rangers surrendered a third period lead on Monday and ceded four unanswered goals after leading 1-0 in Game 5, the stage is set for Game 6 at PNC Arena in Raleigh. The Blueshirts squandered a prime opportunity to close out the Hurricanes at home two nights ago, and will now have to contend with the raucous crowd in North Carolina in addition to the Hurricanes team that dominated the third period of Game to extend its season.

New York raced out to a 3-0 lead in the series and lost a hard fought Game 4 on a late power play goal, but played an uninspired Game 5 leading to tonight's contest. Carolina will look to become the first team since the 2014 Los Angeles Kings to force a Game 7 after trailing a series 3-0, while the Blueshirts will attempt to stop the bleeding and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals in their third try at doing so.

Player to Watch: Chris Kreider

The longest tenured Ranger still on the team, Kreider has seen all the ups and downs the Blueshirts have had to offer to their fanbase over the last decade plus. Comebacks from two games down, blown series from two games up, dramatic Game 7's, and everything in between. One thing Kreider has not been a part of (as the Rangers hadn't had a 3-0 series lead since 2007 prior to this year) as collapse from up 3-0 in a playoff series. Look for Kreider to do what he can to keep it that way as the Rangers try and escape this series without needing a fourth kick at the can on Saturday.

Enjoy the game!
