Adam Fox Named Finalist for Norris Trophy

Adam Fox has been named a 2022-23 Norris Trophy finalist.

This is the second time Fox is nominated for the the Norris, which is awarded annually the league's best defenseman, after winning the award following the 2020-21 season. Fox is the only player from the Eastern Conference voted a top-3 finalist. The other finalists include Erik Karlsson of the San Jose Sharks, and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche.

Karlsson is the first defenseman to finish a season with 100 points or more since Brian Leetch in 1992, and is widely considered the favorite to win the award. Makar, the reigning award winner, had a strong season for the Avs but was limited to 60 games because of injury.

Fox has a strong case to win the award, and his 2022-23 regular season was as good and perhaps better than when he won the award two years ago. In any case, it is a great honor for him to be nominated, and in the process he made team history.

Do you think Fox should win the Norris? Is there someone that was snubbed for a top-3 nomination? I personally think Rasmus Dahlin and Quinn Hughes would have been deserving finalists, but I'm not surprised the three names selected were the ones chosen. I think Fox will come in a close second. We'll have to wait a few weeks to find out for sure.
