Blueshirt Banter Halloween Open Thread

Boo.

Happy Halloween, Blueshirt Banter!

Banter, I'm going to be honest with you- Halloween has never been my thing. Something about seeing true, innocent joy in a child's face, gory effigies swaying in stark silence in suburban yards in the middle of the day, the constant door knocking and doorbell chimes that induce panic attacks, and twenty-somethings thinking that originality is buying a costume at a party store kinda takes all of the luster and magic out of it. Now that I've shot a nice hole through the delicate skin of the zeppelin that is the happiness that you associate with Halloween, I'll mention some of the nice things about it.

The leaves are absolutely beautiful, candy is just as great as it was when you were a kid, and the people that make their own costumes are awesome. All, in all, it's a pretty good holiday. Not too serious, interesting color scheme, and free candy so long as you are too young to drive. Certainly a lot better than, "hit people in the hammer day" or "how many shotgun shells can you swallow before you get sick day".

Anyways, please use this thread to talk about your favorite Halloween memories, your favorite candy, the games that are on tonight, or just be a grumpy old curmudgeon like me who simply "doesn't get it" (I think I've been talking to Tony too much). Got a great scary story? What's your favorite spooky movie? Are you afraid of clowns? Ever see a shark's eyes, chief? Did you see a dead mouse yesterday like I did? Have fun today and tonight, please be safe, and be lovely to each other.
