Blueshirt Banter Update

Hey all,

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lack of transparency the past month or so. You have no idea what I am talking about, which is sort of what I am apologizing for. So let me jump right into it …

  1. In the next week or two, we will be officially migrating the site back over to Ghost as our hosting platform. This will impact a few things, and already has, which I will detail below. There are a few reasons for this, most of which aren’t important to the context of this update, but I do think in the long run Ghost is a better option for us both in the short and long term outlooks. There were some restrictions on the six-month hiatus away from it I was not aware of, and some major bugs I was just made aware of that will be fixed. All of that to come. It will also make us independent again, which I also think is much better for us in the long run.
  2. There is a significant amount of back-end work to ensure that this is seamless for all of you, and that has taken up a significant portion of what little free time I have had to ensure this place runs smoothly. Thus content has been a little sparse of late because of this and some issues with the site have gone unfixed. I apologize for this; my original timeline on getting us over has been delayed due to some significant real-work issues and I have only recently been able to prioritize it.
  3. As a warning, Ghost (and Hyvor) will require that annoying double sign in the first time you sign in, but aside from that I don’t think you will notice anything different. You will also notice that you will have access to your account again, as many of you apparently didn’t. I was unaware of this and apologize. On this note: Ghost’s original Stripe system auto-renews annual and monthly subscriptions, and some of those have processed. If you were hit with an annual subscription and could not cancel and want to, please e-mail me and I will refund you. The intent is for you to want to be here, if you don’t want to be you do not need to me. E-mail me at JoeFortunatoLLC@gmail.com and I will take care of it.
  4. In, perhaps, better news: One of the downfalls of the system we’re leaving is the inability to post up podcast audio aside from the unlisted YouTube route. Once we transition back to Ghost On The Road with Joe will continue up again and there’s another potential podcast in the works if I can get my old friend Mr. Murphy to commit some time. Either way, a bi-monthly Q&A show was in the works until I realized it couldn’t happen on the old platform in an easy enough manner. Ghost allows a more streamlined process with audio and text and it was one of the best things of our first months on our own.
  5. I also don’t want to walk too far down this road until it’s official, but we will likely have a new writer who is doing some incredible things in the data analytic side of things, and might give access to some fun toys for subscribers to play with. I will go into more details here when I can.

This year has been a slew of trial and error for running the site on its own, and a huge situation (good) at work really dug into my time from the site the past five months. That was not intentional or expected. There’s been so much more back-end work than I expected that also ate into writing time that I need to re-prioritize. All to say, things got off to a rocky start. I have some ideas (and thankfully, some more time and options) to bring this place back up to where I want it to be. I want to thank you all for the support so far, even those of you who might go elsewhere. It means the world to me, and keeping this place running is a goal not just for financial purposes — in truth I personally made next to nothing off the site last year — but to keeping the community alive that we strived so hard to build.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach out to be. And huge props to Peter for bringing some of this to my attention as I put my head in the mechanics and backed away from the comments to try and get us migrated over.

I love you all. Let’s have a deep playoff run to celebrate together this year 🙂
