Dominic Moore to host Q&A at NHL Store as part of Hockey Fights Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and hockey, like many other sports, does its part to help raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. Termed “Hockey Fights Cancer,” the NHL does a number of things over the month of October, from purple apparel sold on its website, to players wearing purple tape during games.

Tuesday evening in New York, Dominic Moore will be hosting a Q&A at the NHL Store in Manhattan in conjunction with the month’s events.

This month, and this disease holds a very personal place in the heart of both Moore and the Rangers locker room. Moore’s late wife Katie died in January 2013 of liver cancer. Dominic walked away from hockey for a season and began a charity in Katie’s name. (You can donate to the Katie Moore foundation here.)

Moore’s story was also told in a powerful E:60 segment that aired last May, telling the story of how he met Katie at both of their alma mater, Harvard, to her illness, and how Moore found his way back to hockey, and what is doing to help people effected by the disease.

The NHL store is located at 1185 6th Avenue in Manhattan, very accessible (especially via the ‘F’ train). As always, we at Blueshirt Banter encourage you to donate to the Katie Moore foundation.
