Eight Potential Landing Spots for a Brennan Othmann Trade
Another season, another disgruntled Rangers prospect. We break down the trade chatter around Brennan Othmann—and the teams that might make sense.

With the dawn of a new New York Rangers season comes a yet another new Rangers player who is dissatisfied with their place on the team and in the pipeline, landing them in an all new round of trade rumors.
That’s right folks: Four seasons after being drafted 16th overall by the Rangers, Brennan Othmann has fallen further and further down the team’s depth charts and could be a prime candidate for a change of scenery.
With Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reporting towards the end of last week that Othmann's name is out there in trade rumors, the three of us decided to team up for a mini-roundtable to brainstorm potential trade options for the young Rangers forward. It’s like the Crosby, Stills, and Nash of trade proposals, but instead it’s Chip, Chris, and Roberto.
When looking to trade a disgruntled prospect, wait ... haven’t we been down this road before? *Sigh*
When you’re looking to trade a disgruntled prospect that hasn’t fully panned out, you’re typically not going to get the type of value you want in a potential return. The two types of trades you’re looking to make are a change-of-scenery deal, typically in the form of a one-for-one hockey trade, or you trade the player just to recoup some type of assets for him.
The Rangers should be open to any and all business that can involved trading Brennan Othmann. But if they have their pick, they should prioritize "hockey trades" for NHL-roster-ready players, and look to target either a defenseman or center in a similar situation to Othmann—a player with potential who hasn't panned out and may be on the outside looking in on the active roster.
So, let's explore some teams and potential options!
