Game #17: Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers Open Thread

The New York Rangers started the week with a much-needed win against the St. Louis Blues and now take on their division rival, the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers had a rough start to the season coming into tonight's game with a 4-9-4 record. The Flyers are currently in last place of the Metropolitan Division, and the Rangers are in third but do have a few games in hand on the team's behind them.

The Rangers are likely to utilize similar lines as they did in their victory against the Blues. Goalie Joonas Korpisalo has been loaned to the Hartfrod Wolf Pack for a conditioning stint as he nears a return from a lower-body injury. Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen was placed on injured reserve last week and will not appear in the game.

Where to Watch

Cable/Network TV: MSG Network, NHL website, NHL app, and DAZN

National Broadcast: ESPN+

Radio: 880 AM

Player to Watch: Will Cuylle

Ahead of the last game, head coach Mike Sullivan made the move to play Will Cuylle as the third-line center. Cuylle did not look out of place in the face-off circle, having gone three for five. It is no secret the Rangers don't have a lot of options up the middle, and Noah Laba has been playing more like a fourth liner this season.

The Carolina Hurricanes made a similar move last season, playing Logan Stankoven at center for the first time in his career, and it worked out for them. Whether it is a short-term or long-term fix, giving the Rangers more center option is exactly what they need.
