Fueled by turkey and mashed potatoes, the New York Rangers travel to the TD Garden to take on the Boston Bruins. The Rangers aim to carry over the momentum from their road victory Wednesday against the Carolina Hurricanes into today's game. A win today would mean three in a row for the Blueshirts after losing four in a row last week.
Head coach Mike Sullivan has stated that Will Borgen will not play today as he continues to battle an upper-body injury. Fresh off a 36-save performance, Igor Shesterkin remains in net for the Rangers. On defense, the Blueshirts must be conscious of Morgan Geekie, who has the second most goals in the league with 17.
Player to Watch: Carson Soucy
Outside of their top pair, and especially with Borgen, the Rangers need to rely more on their bottom two pairs. Of the bunch, Soucy is the most experienced and will likely be the one Sullivan relies on the most. The Bruins have one of the best power plays in the league, ranking fourth in power play percentage at 25.3%.
Without his usual partner in the lineup this afternoon, it is going to be on Soucy to play his best game and help elevate those around him. As we've learned from last season, losing games at this point in the year matters, and today could end up being a must-win game.
Enjoy the game!
