The Rangers are back on the ice at Madison Square Garden after blowing a 2-0 lead in their last outing against the Philadelphia Flyers. For the fourth and final time this season, the Blueshirts will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Penguins, who are currently second in the Metropolitan Division, won two of the first three matchups between the two teams.

The Rangers claimed forward Tye Kartye off waivers, who will make his Blueshirts debut against the Penguins. In turn, Brennan Othmann has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack. For the second time in a row, Igor Shesterkin will get the start in net for New York. Other than that, the Rangers' lineup should be mostly the same. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is out after suffering a lower-body injury at the 2026 Milan Olympics.

Where to Watch

Cable/Network TV: ABC

National Broadcast: ESPN+

Radio: 880 AM

Player to Watch: Tye Kartye

Tye Kartye is the most recent addition to the Rangers, having been claimed off waivers from the Seattle Kraken. In three years in Seattle, Kartye has 20 goals, 21 assists, and 41 points in 180 career games. While he may not be the biggest contributor offensively, Kartye has a very strong defensive game and will likely get time on the penalty kill unit.

General manager Chris Drury has stated he wants to get younger and continues to make moves that back what he said. With veteran bottom-six players like Sam Carrick and Taylor Raddysh expected to be traded, bringing in Kartye is a young and cheap way to fill a third- or fourth-line spot.
