The New York Rangers have been red hot, earning points in all but one game since the Olympic break ended. Their opponent, the Winnipeg Jets, have also earned points in six of their seven games since players have returned from Milan. Despite the recent success from both teams, neither of them is currently in the playoff picture, with the Blueshirts near the bottom of the league.
Rangers' captain J.T. Miller will not play tonight against the Jets despite traveling with the team. With him still out, Adam Edstrom will get an opportunity in the top-six. The team is also shaking up their defensive pairs, with Matthew Robertson joining Braden Schneider on the second pair and Will Borgen moving down to the bottom pair. The Rangers will also run two defensemen on their second power play unit as Schneider draws onto the man advantage unit.

Player to Watch: Adam Edstrom
It feels like a dark time if the Rangers are putting Edstrom on the second line, but hey, it beats Conor Sheary. Edstrom has been in and out of the lineup this season primarily due to injuries, but this will be his best chance all season. In 28 games this season, Edstrom has four points while primarily playing on the fourth line.

For all the times head coach Mike Sullivan has played veterans over young players in a lost season (like he is currently doing with Urho Vaakaninen over Scott Morrow or Vincent Iorio), giving Edstrom a chance won't hurt.
Enjoy the game!
