After another lackluster offensive performance that resulted in a loss, the Rangers remain on the road to take on the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens have won their last four games and enter tonight's contest with a record of 4-1. While the Blueshirts have generated plenty of scoring chances over the last few games, we will see if they are finally able to put it all together.
Despite dealing with an injury, Will Borgen is once again expected to suit up for the Rangers. Jonathan Quick will also be suiting up, protecting the pipes for the second time this season. Quick's lone start was in the loss against the Capitals, where he registered a save percentage of .952.
Player to Watch: Artemi Panarin
When your team isn't scoring, you immediately look to your star players to help get you going. Well, Artemi Panarin has also been part of the problem, as he hasn't netted a goal this season and only has two assists. While other players on the roster have been able to generate chances but haven't put it in the back of the net, that isn't the case for the Breadman.
According to Evolving Hockey, Panarin has 1.2 individual expected goals. Panarin ranks eighth on the Rangers in this category and outside the top 50 in the league. When you compare this to Mika Zibanejad or Alexis Lafrenière, they are both top 10 in the NHL and have created numerous scoring chances. If Artemi Panarin can't get going soon, the Rangers' scoring struggles are likely to continue.
Enjoy the game!
