Game Thread 11/27: Brassard and Senators at Rangers
Brassard's return to the Garden.
Tonight former Rangers' fan favorite Derick Brassard returns to the Garden for the first time wearing an Ottawa Senators jersey.
Brassard had 174 points in three full seasons and part of a fourth with New York. He led the Rangers in goals (27) and finished second on the team in points (58) last year.
The Blueshirts traded him and a 7th round pick in the 2018 Draft during the offseason for the now injured 23-year-old Mika Zibanejad and a second round pick in the 2018 Draft. The Brassard trade has widely been pointed to as a win for Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton.
Brassard has been struggling a bit with his new team. He has three goals and six assists in his first 20 games of the season.
The Rangers are coming off of a black-and-blue Friday victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. Henrik Lundqvist was sensational and Matt Puempel, Kevin Hayes and Derek Stepan scored goals for the Blueshirts.
After tonight's game at the Garden the Rangers will host the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.
