The Hartford Wolf Pack kicked off a milestone season in October, taking the ice at the PeoplesBank Arena for the 30th straight year. The Wolf Pack had a reloaded team with a brand new coaching staff to start the season, and now we'll highlight the three best of them in the return of your monthly three stars column.

The Wolf Pack played 12 games in October, going 5-6-1-0. From these games, I've selected the three players that I think had the best overall performances of the month. Let's get into the three stars for October.

Third Star: Liam Greentree, Forward

October stats: 12 GP | 4 G | 3 A | 7 PTS | -8 | 2 PIM

Entering the 2026-27 season, no player on the Wolf Pack came with more hype than forward Liam Greentree. Acquired from the Los Angeles Kings last February in the trade that sent star winger Artemi Panarin to the City of Angels, Greentree aimed to build off a strong camp with a hot start to his professional career.

Greentree did just that. In 12 games in the month of October, the rookie winger led the Wolf Pack with four goals and tied for second on the team with seven points. Greentree even had the honor of scoring the Wolf Pack's first goal at home this season. It's the second straight year the Wolf Pack had a rookie score their first home goal. Gabe Perreault did so a season ago.

"He can shoot the puck," Wolf Pack head coach Jay Leach told Blueshirt Banter when asked about Greentree on Oct. 11. "He's one of those guys that when he's playing north-south, he's effective. He's able to produce, which is a hard thing to do at any level."

Early in the season, Greentree has displayed a strong ability to score on the power play. All his points came on the man advantage, which has become one of the AHL's best early in the season.

"It's a five-man unit," Greentree told Blueshirt Banter when asked about the power play on Oct. 23. "We've been playing well. As long as we keep playing hard, battling for loose pucks, and attacking when we have a chance, we're a pretty good power play unit."

It's been more than just pretty good on the power play for the Wolf Pack this season, and Greentree is a massive part of that. He earns third star honors for October.

Second Star: Callum Tung, Goaltender

October stats: 7 GP | 7 GS | 3-4-0-0 | 2.17 GAA | .930 SV% | 10 PIMs

Just over a month ago, I was at Wolf Pack media day. That day, Dylan Garand was on waivers, and we'd find out whether he'd clear at 2 p.m. After watching practice and doing some interviews, I hung around the PeoplesBank Arena, doing some work as the clock ticked toward 2.

The notification came through. Garand had cleared.

With that, Garand became the starter in Hartford, while Spencer Martin assumed the role of backup. However, before the Wolf Pack even played a game, the New York Rangers summoned Garand after backup netminder Joonas Korpisalo suffered a foot infection. Martin dealt with an ailment of his own to open the campaign, meaning the Wolf Pack would open the season with Gabriel Carriere and Callum Tung between the pipes. What a whirlwind.

Both men did an admirable job stepping up, but Tung in particular shone in October. In seven starts, he posted a sparkling 2.17 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. That also included his first AHL shutout, blanking the Providence Bruins with 28 saves on Oct. 9.

"He's been great. He's kept us in pretty much every game," Leach told Blueshirt Banter when asked about Tung on Oct. 14. "I can't say I really remember a bad goal, which is not an easy thing to say for a goalie. He's answered the bell."

Tung's record doesn't accurately reflect just how great he's been this season for the Wolf Pack. He's an easy choice for second star of October.

First Star: Glenn Gawdin, Forward

Over the offseason, the Wolf Pack lost their two leading scorers from the 2025-26 season. Trey Fix-Wolansky, who potted 31 goals, signed with the Vancouver Canucks, while Brendan Brisson, Hartford's 2026 AHL All-Star Classic representative, joined the Toronto Maple Leafs. That's a lot of offense the Wolf Pack needed to replace.

One of the players brought in to replace their offensive production was forward Glenn Gawdin. Signed by the Rangers to a two-year contract on July 1, Gawdin moved to the East Coast for the first time in his career after recording at least 50 points in four of his last five seasons.

"I'd like to say I'm a reliable two-way center," Gawdin told Blueshirt Banter at Wolf Pack media day on Sept. 28. "I think I can do a little bit of everything in terms of faceoffs, penalty kill, power play."

Gawdin showed all of that and more, becoming a key contributor for the Wolf Pack. He played at just under a point-per-game pace during October, leading the team in both assists and points.

"He's done great," Leach told Blueshirt Banter on Nov. 1 after Gawdin recorded a pair of goals against the Springfield Thunderbirds. "He's smart out there on the ice and certainly makes plays, but he's also responsible."

The Wolf Pack brought in Gawdin to be a key contributor this season, and he's been up to the task in the first month of the campaign. He's my choice for first star of October.
