How Brody Lamb Could Become the Next Noah Laba
From Laba to Lamb. The Rangers may have found another under-the-radar college standout ready to turn heads in next year’s camp.

For the second year in the row, an unsuspecting New York Rangers rookie has impressed the front office during training camp enough to earn an opening night roster spot.
In the 2024-25 season it was Victor Mancini, who skated in 15 games with the Rangers and went on to become part of the package that reunited the Rangers with J.T. Miller. This year, it was Noah Laba. A fourth round draft pick (111th overall) in the 2022 draft class that had back-to-back point-per-game seasons at Colorado College before playing in 11 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack at the end of last season. Laba had an impressive run with the Pack, collecting three goals and two assists in that stretch and turned that into an opening night roster spot with the New York Rangers this season.
Whether he ends up sticking around or goes back to Hartford for more seasoning, it’s great to see the Rangers not only reward their young talent for their efforts, but to see them playing at an NHL quality level. That being said, there’s a real good chance that next season we’re talking about another former fourth round draft pick of the Rangers coming off a strong college season.
If you haven’t followed Brody Lamb’s career up to this point, he enters his senior year at the University of Minnesota having played in all but two possible games throughout his three years with the Gophers (117 of 119 career games). In his freshman season he finished the year with four goals and assists for a total of eight points. Additionally, he finished third in the team in blocked shots, scored in back-to-back postseason games and helped the Golden Gophers make a run to the Frozen Four Final where they ended up falling short to Joe's Quinnipiac Bobcats in overtime.
And we're just scratching the surface of what he could bring to the table.
