A newer award for the New York Rangers organization, the Rod Gilbert "Mr. Ranger" Award is given annually in Gilbert's honor, recognizing a current Rangers player “who best honors Rod’s legacy both on and off the ice and making a significant humanitarian contribution to his community.” Debuted in the 2020-01 season, previous winners include Chris Kreider, Jacob Trouba, Adam Fox, and Jonathan Quick. This year, it's Rangers captain J.T. Miller receiving the honors.

The award was given out in a pregame ceremony prior to tonight's puck drop against the Montreal Canadiens.

While it's been an up and down season for Miller on the ice—at least in a Rangers jersey, a large part of this award is about what happens off of it. Miller of course, played a key role for the Men's U.S. Olympic team that went on to win a gold medal at the 2026 Milan Games. Behind the scenes, the Miller family made the largest player donation in franchise history to the Garden of Dreams Foundation. A remarkable gesture by the Rangers 2011 first round draft pick in his second tour of duty with the franchise.

An exceptional honor in his first season as captain of the New York Rangers. Congrats, Miller!
