Joe's Reaction of the Week: Trade Tiers!

The Letter 2.0 made one thing clear: players are leaving. Now it’s just a question of who, when, and how inevitable it really is.

We can do this column in one of two ways.

We can examine likelihood of who will be traded as the New York Rangers and Chris Drury retool. Or we can look at what each player could theoretically bring back in terms of a return.

You know what that means? I have two weeks worth of Joe's Reaction Of The Week in one idea!

Today I am going to break down the likelihood of players being moved. Next week I am going to take a look at what their value could be. Will things happen between now and then? Maybe! That's fun isn't it? Anyway, onto the tiers!

100 Percent Being Traded

Carson Soucy – It is rare for a player to ride the roller coaster as far and as hard as Soucy has here in New York.

Traded for a very valuable third round pick last year, Soucy came into New York and immediately got swept up in the flames of the wreckage. We speculated all summer about the Rangers moving on from him because they had no use to keep him, Drury was mocked for keeping him, everyone hated Soucy being in the starting lineup, he played very good hockey to kick off the year, we here at the Banter even talked about extending him, and now he's on the chopping block. I probably missed a few moments in there as well.

Now he's a sure-fire rental. The question is just whether or not Chris Drury is going to be able to recoup value at or above the 72nd overall pick he gave up for him last year.

Soucy fits the bill as a stay-at-home, defensive defenseman that teams seem to covet at the trade deadline. There's no way he's on this roster after March and we thank him for his service.
