The Hartford Wolf Pack continued their five-game road trip on Saturday afternoon. They went north of the border for the final time this season, making their only visit to Toronto to take on the Marlies.

The Wolf Pack took an early lead, but a torrent Marlies power play helped lead the home side to victory. Toronto would eventually take a 6-3 decision.

Great Scott

For the third straight game, the Wolf Pack found the icebreaker. Carey Terrance attempted to jam a puck home, but Artur Akhtyamov denied the chance. Terrance poked the rebound away from the netminder, allowing Bryce McConnell-Barker to corral it. McConnell-Barker swung it across the ice for Scott Morrow, who promptly snapped a shot by Akhtyamov to give the Wolf Pack the game's first lead.

The goal was Morrow's fourth of the campaign.

A hooking call against Trey Fix-Wolansky just before the 12 minute mark in the period gave the Marlies the game's first power play bid. During the man advantage, Spencer Martin lost his skate blade. Martin was able to knock a shot down while on one foot, but the puck rested on the red line. Logan Shaw jammed it home just before Anton Blidh could get to it to tie the contest. The Wolf Pack protested, but the call was upheld. The teams would enter the first intermission with the score even at one.

Morrow took a holding call late in the opening period, giving Toronto a power play bid that carried into the middle frame. Shaw hammered home a rebound just 37 seconds into the second period to put the Marlies in front for good.

Just 24 seconds later, Luke Haymes stuffed a shot by Martin's pad to make it a 3-1 lead for the home side.

Lamb Chops

Despite trailing by two, the Wolf Pack started to pick up momentum. They'd cut the lead back to one just over the three minute mark in the period. McConnell-Barker threw a backhander towards the goal that clipped Brody Lamb in front and found the back of the net.

The goal was Lamb's first as a professional, and it gave him his third point through his first four pro games. Lamb has tallied a goal and two assists in that span.

Additionally, McConnell-Barker and Terrance both picked up the second assists of the game on the play.

However, the Wolf Pack couldn't solve Akhtyamov for the rest of the frame. Ben King buried a rebound to reinstate the two-goal margin. Just 47 seconds later, Ryan Tverberg made it a three-goal game once again, potting a backhand bid. The Marlies carried the 5-2 lead into the second intermission.

Landon Sim gave the home side their largest lead of the night 8:39 into the third period, jamming a puck by Martin. Terrance cut the lead back to three with just over a minute to play, tipping home a shot from Morrow. The goal was Terrance's seventh of the campaign and gave him his first pro three-point game.

The sides would skate out the final minute of regulation, giving the Marlies a 6-3 decision.

This result, combined with a Bridgeport shootout win over Hershey, put the Wolf Pack four points back of the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
