1. Speaking of Pavel Dorofeyev, Jeff Marek and Jason Gregor spent plenty of time breaking down both the acquisition and the seven-year extension on DFO Rundown.

“This is something that New York has desperately needed,” Marek said. "You can bank on him for 30-35 goals every year, [but] we’ll see who they complement around him here.”

But why did Vegas move him in the first place? According to Marek, the threat of an offer sheet may have forced their hand.

“What this kinda tells me is ... Vegas thought he was a legitimate candidate for an offer sheet and they didn’t want to face a significant cap crunch,” Marek said. “They knew that if they were going to sign him, it was going to have to be $11 million because that’s what the offer sheet was going to be, and they didn’t want another team determining their cap.”

Marek added that he loves the move for the Rangers and relayed praise from someone who played with Dorofeyev, who described Dorofeyev's shot as "one of the most insanely good one-timers he's ever seen—one of the best in the NHL, full stop."
