As expected, Mika Zibanejad has officially been named to Team Sweden for the 2026 Milan Olympics. In doing so, he joins J.T. Miller and Vincent Trocheck on the list of New York Rangers that are headed to the 2026 Milan Olympics.

As has been the case with the other countries that participated in the 4 Nations Face-Off last season, Team Sweden's roster is quite similar to the group they took to that in-season tournament. Among the differences: Viktor Arvidsson, Gustav Nyqvist, Mattias Ekholm and Linus Ullmark did not make the cut. In their places are goaltender Jesper Wallstedt, defensemen Philip Broberg and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, as well as forwards Pontus Holmberg and former Rangers friend Alex Wennberg.

In two games played during 4 Nations, Zibanejad collected one goal and eight shots on net. Additionally, he had an even plus minus rating and a face-off win percentage of 64.7. Zibanejad played a key role for Team Sweden averaging 20:31 minutes of ice time. He did miss one of Sweden's three games with an illness.

Zibanejad has previously won gold and bronze medals with Team Sweden at the IIHF World Championship in 2018 and 2025, respectively. He also scored the golden goal in overtime for Team Sweden at the U20 IIHF World Junior Championship in 2012.

In 42 games played this season, Zibanejad has been one of the Rangers top point producers as he's collected 15 goals and 20 assists for 35 total points. He celebrated being named to the Olympic roster with a five point showing against the Florida Panthers in the 2026 NHL Winter Classic. Zibanejad became the first player in league history to score a hat trick in the Winter Classic and assisted on both of Artemi Panarin's goals for yet another memorable outdoor game in Rangers history.

Congratulations to Mika Zibanejad on the honors! The 2026 Milan Olympics kick off with Opening Ceremonies on Friday, Feb. 6. The men's ice hockey portion begins on Wednesday, Feb. 11, with early group stage matchups. The tournaments run through February, with medal rounds concluding around Feb. 21-22.
