New York Rangers Agree to Terms with Zac Jones

This afternoon Chris Drury and co. took care of some business. They've announced Zac Jones has agreed to a two year contract extension.

The 2019 third round pick hasn't made a splash in the NHL just yet, but many pundits expect it to come soon. This past season was his most successful as a professional hockey player. He split the season between the Hartford Wolf Pack and the New York Rangers as it was rumored Gallant didn't quite trust the young defender and thought he needed more seasoning. In 54 games in the AHL Jones scored 8 goals and registered 23 assists good for second most points on the team behind another Rangers prospect, Matthew Robertson who was able to play a few more games in the season.

Jones would be an excellent option and answer for the organization due to his low cost and higher ceiling. If the smaller defender can gain the confidence to handle himself in the NHL and exhibit the skills he is projected to have, the Rangers will be a much deeper and better team.
