The New York Rangers weren't able to get the results on Sunday during Game 5, and now face elimination tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Luckily, this isn't new territory for the Rangers as elimination have unfortunately become the norm over the last few seasons. If you look strictly at the numbers, the Rangers have a clear advantage and their recent history certainly speaks for itself.
Just to give you an idea, the Rangers are 8-1 during their last nine elimination games, and are also 11-3 during their last 14 elimination games. In other words, the Rangers usually put up their best performances when their backs are against the wall, and facing possible elimination. Hopefully the Rangers continue that upward trend tonight, and force one final game back at Madison Square Garden.
Bryan's Player to Watch: Henrik Lundqvist
If I had to choose any goalie throughout the entire NHL to go to war with in an elimination game, there's no doubt I'm choosing Henrik Lundqvist. As we've seen time and time again, he thrives in these types of situations and just feeds off of the possibility of being eliminated. If he can get the offensive support tonight, there's zero doubt that he will hold up his end of the bargain.
LET'S GO RANGERS!
