Rangers Home Opener taking place on October 5th

The New York Rangers will play their home opener of the 2017-18 season against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, October 5th.

The Rangers bested the Avalanche both times the teams crossed sticks during the 2016-17 season. The Blueshirts outscored the Avalanche 10 goals to four in 120 minutes of hockey.

The Rangers have an overall record of 39-32-7-6 against Colorado. Remember ties?

The Avalanche could look like a very different team by October. Rumors about Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog being traded have been stirring for months now.

The NHL will be announcing the rest of the 2017-18 schedule tomorrow at 3pm on NHL Network during a live, hour-long NHL Tonight: 2017-18 Schedule Release broadcast. Steve Mears, E.J Hradek and John Maclean will break down the schedule for all 31 of the league’s teams.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights play their home opener on October 10th against the Arizona Coyotes.
