GIF: Mats Zuccarello completes improbable Rangers third period comeback, scores first of the season

Did you turn of the Rangers game Monday night when things got ugly? Hope not.

Mats Zuccarello will sleep well tonight.

After going goalless in the Rangers first eight games of the season, and only recording one point, Zuccarello, along with the entire Blueshirts team, went "balls out," in the third. (Zuccarello's words there.)

The Rangers scored five goals in the third period (a season-high), Zuccarello had three points in all (again, he only had one in eight games entering Monday night), and the snake-bitten forward got off the scoring snide, netting the game-winner only 37 seconds after Anthony Duclair tallied his first career mark.

In recapping this play, one has to mention Derick Brassard, who, outside of Rick Nash, had the best game of any Ranger on Monday night. Brassard, like Zuccarello, had a goal and two assists against Minnesota, and was the biggest key to this goal. He was the first in on the puck behind the net, and then, without any hesitation, put a backhand pass right in Zuccarello's wheelhouse for the game-winner.
