New York Rangers News: Adam Clendening Signs One-Year Deal

The New York Rangers have made their first signing of the day, and it comes in the form of a depth defenseman. According to Darren Dreger, the Rangers agreed to terms with Adam Clendening on a one-year, two day deal. The deal is set to pay Clendening $600,000 at the NHL level, and $300,000 in the AHL.

Given the Rangers current logjam situation on defense, Clendening is likely destined for the Hartford Wolf Pack. But at the same time, there is a chance that Clendening could make a push to make the team as a seventh defenseman.

Of course, that all hinges on the Rangers making additional changes on the backend, and potentially freeing up a roster spot. At the moment, the Rangers currently have seven defenseman expected to make the roster next season, barring any additional moves that are made.

It’s expected that the Rangers will make at least one more signing this afternoon, as they look to bring in some bottom-six depth.
