New York Rangers News: Brady Skjei Signed To ATO In Hartford
The Rangers signed defensive prospect Brady Skjei to an ATO
The New York Rangers tied up one of their bigger loose ends today, signing defensive prospect Brady Skjei to an ATO in Hartford. What does this mean?
Well, Adam actually explained it pretty well on Twitter so see the below:

Key component: Skjei is reporting on an ATO. Meaning his ELC will kick in NEXT year.

Reasons why that matters: 1. Skjei doesn't burn a year of his contract. 2. leaves a contract slot open to sign Matt O'Connor/other UFA

According to multiple reports, the Rangers are one of a few teams expected to be finalists for BU goaltender Matt O'Connor, so keeping a contract slot open might end up being a really big deal. This agreement also leaves the Rangers with a full three year entry level contract for Skjei that will start next year. You can never have too much flexibility in the cap world, so this is also a good thing.
In the end, nothing bad about this and it will be interesting to get a look at what Skjei does in the AHL.
Thoughts?
