New York Rangers News: Martin Biron And Arron Asham Clear Waivers

Martin Biron and Arron Asham have cleared waivers at noon today, and are likely on their way to the Hartford Wolfpack.

According to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, Martin Biron and Arron Asham have passed through waivers, and are now eligible for assignment to the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League. With J.T. Miller and Cam Talbot being recalled earlier this morning, there is zero chance either of the two will remain with the New York Rangers. A recall isn't out of the question, but is a very slim possibility at this point.

Neither of the two were expected to get claimed on waivers, as many of the teams are right up against the salary and contract limit. Biron had a better shot at being claimed, but may have scared off some interested teams with his retirement quotes from practice yesterday. Biron didn't rule out retirement if he is assigned to the Wolfpack, as he likely has no interest in playing for a minor league team at this point in his career.

In the event that Biron does retire, his cap hit would be wiped from the Rangers books entirely, as he signed his last contract before he turned 35 years old.
