New York Rangers News: Martin St. Louis Will Be Sidelined For 10-14 Days
The New York Rangers will be without Martin St. Louis for the next 10-14 days as he is sidelined with a lower-body injury.
According to an official team release, Martin St. Louis will be sidelined for the next 10-14 days with a lower-body injury that he suffered last night against the Florida Panthers. The injury occurred late in the third period when St. Louis and Dmitry Kulikov went hard into the corner while battling for the puck. Kulikov wound up falling backwards, and landed right on St. Louis right knee as he fell to the ice.
Following the incident, St. Louis remained on the bench for a short time, and slowly limped off of the ice during the next stoppage. At first glance, it certainly could have been a lot worse for St. Louis, and the two week break will only bode well for him heading into the playoffs. There's no doubt he has been struggling quite a bit this season, so hopefully the extended break will help rejuvenate his game.
The recovery timeline has St. Louis slated to miss at least five games, with a possible return date on March 28 against the Boston Bruins. Larry Brooks also mentions that the Rangers don't have any plans to recall a forward from Hartford for Wednesday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks. That means Tanner Glass will make his return to the lineup after missing last night's game, while another forward is promoted to the top-six.
The Rangers have handled their injuries extremely well this season, and St. Louis is just another added to the lengthy list. Time for someone else to step to the plate.
