New York Rangers News: Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Fasth, And Oscar Lindberg May Join Rangers

Glen Sather expressed his interest in bringing over Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Fasth, and Oscar Lindberg after their European seasons.

According to Larry Brooks of the NY post, Glen Sather is mulling over the possibility of bringing Mats Zuccarello, Jesper Fasth, and Oscar Lindberg to the New York Rangers this season. Fasth and Lindberg are currently playing in the Swedish Elite League, who's regular season is expected to end sometime next week. Depending on how far both of them go in the playoffs, Sather will explore the possibility of bringing them over to play for the Rangers later on in the season. Both Fasth and Lindberg agreed to terms on entry-level deals before the start of last season, and currently remain under contract with the Rangers.

On the other side of the fence, Sather is also exploring the idea of bringing back Mats Zuccarello after his season in the Kontinental Hockey League concludes. Zuccarello is not currently under contract with the Rangers, but they do still own his rights as a restricted free agent. The Rangers had sent Zuccarello a qualifying offer after last year, which in turn, retained his rights as he went overseas. Zuccarello still has one year left on his KHL contract, but it does include an out-clause, in the event that he is signed by an NHL club.

This news comes as a bit of surprise, but it's also pretty exciting. While Zuccarello was rarely used in his last season with the Rangers, when he played, he played a vital role around the net. He was also pretty good with the puck on the power play, something the Rangers need to do better with this year. Meanwhile, we've heard tons of exciting news about Lindberg and Fasth during their time in Sweden.
