New York Rangers News: Rangers Brendan Bell Assigned To AHL

The New York Rangers have assigned Brendan Well to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL. Bell made his Rangers debut on Saturday against Edmonton, registering two shots on goal.

Bell was one of the bottom players in terms of playing time on defense, and wasn't able to wrestle a roster spot from any of the younger players. In all honestly, while Bell was up I didn't see much from him, although, to be fair, he wasn't expected to make a big impact when he did play.

I wouldn't read anything into this in terms of the Marc Staal situation. Obviously we'll keep you abreast of his status when anything breaks.

Official New York Rangers press release after the jump.
