New York Rangers News: Rangers Agree To Terms With Josh Jooris And Tommy Hughes

The New York Rangers have made two more signings this morning by agreeing to terms with Josh Jooris and Tommy Hughes.

After settling with Dylan McIlrath earlier this morning, the New York Rangers followed it up with another pair of free agent signings. According to official team releases, the Rangers have agreed to terms with forward Josh Jooris and defenseman Tommy Hughes on new contracts.

Jooris joins the Rangers have spending the last two seasons with the Calgary Flames, where he totaled 16 goals, 21 assists, and 37 points in 119 total games. With Oscar Lindberg sidelined for at least the first month of the season, Jooris gives the Rangers some added insurance up front, and will likely compete for a bottom-six spot until Lindberg returns to action.

Not to mention, with Michael Grabner, Nathan Gerbe, and now Jooris in the fold, one has to wonder if Tanner Glass still has a role secured on the team. The Rangers continue to add bottom-six players, with not nearly as many spots to fill, so it is something worth thinking about. The Rangers could also use some much needed salary cap relief in that area as well, especially with cheaper and better options available to take Glass' spot.

The Rangers also took care of another RFA by signing Tommy Hughes who has spent the last three seasons with the Hartford Wolf Pack. As per team rules, the terms of the contracts were not immediately released, so we will update when there is official confirmation.
