New York Rangers News: Tomas Kaberle To Practice/Skate With Rangers

Tomas Kaberle will reportedly practice with the New York Rangers, and will essentially be on a tryout for the time being to see where it goes.

According to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, the New York Rangers have invited Tomas Kaberle to practice and skate with the team on a tryout basis. With their defensive core practically in shambles, it's no surprise that Glen Sather has started to look outside of the organization for help. Not to mention, Sather absolutely love his reclamation projects, as we saw during the offseason when he brought in Ryan Malone.

Although, I'm not really sure how Kaberle fits into an equation that is already desperate for help. Alain Vigneault's system is based primarily around speed and skill, and I'm not sure Kaberle comes even remotely close to fitting that model. Luckily, for the time being, Kaberle will just be skating with the Rangers as no contract details have been discussed, and they are simply "taking a look" at him.

Kaberle signed a PTO with the New Jersey Devils during the preseason, and was cut from the team following a few poor performances. Prior to that, he played with HC Kladno of the Czech league where he posted four goals, 20 assists, and 26 penalty minutes.
